Pheasants Forever Seneca County Chapter President July 2015 meeting was called to order by President Mario Livojevic.
- Reports on Habitat projects in Seneca County included the Redfox Wildlife area and the Kelbley Wildlife area. The wind breaks at both wildlife areas were doing well. Maintaining grassland for wildlife has required monthly work at eliminating burdock, pokeweed and some other weeds. Additional seed for food plots was provided free to some Seneca County landowners that needed to replant due to excessive rains and flooding. Pheasants Forever Wildlife Biologist Dustin Lamoreaux reports that soil rental rates for new contracts on CRP ground in Seneca County now has an average soil rental rate of $167/acre. The Pheasant SAFE, Quail buffers, wind breaks, grass water ways, food plots, and total combined acres of CRP within Seneca County is now 5,598 acres. - Seneca County Pheasants Forever agreed to cover the seed cost for habit planting of warm season grasses and pollinator plantings on 7.5 acres at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in northern Seneca County and to do the planting.
- The group agreed to donate up to $500 with matching funds coming from National Pheasants Forever for the youth pollinator habitat program that Kelly Schott the Wildlife Education Coordinator from SCD will head up. Mrs. Schott can be contacted at 419-447-7073 during normal business hours.
- The Youth Sporting Clay Shoot that is free to any youth seventeen years of age or younger and any adult that brings a youth that participates is to be held Sunday September 20th details are posted on WWW.SenecaCountyPheasantsForever.org
- The upcoming Seneca County Fair was discussed and Pheasants Forever will have a laser shot trailer available free for youths in the evening and we will help with the youth archery trailer provided by ODNR.
- The next meeting will be 6:30 pm Tuesday August 4th, at 7575 West Twp. Rd 131 Tiffin, OH. At the Sandusky River Coon Hunters Lodge. There will first be a district meeting headed by Ohio Pheasants Forever Officials then afterwards the Seneca county chapter will conduct a brief meeting.
